Mr. Fortin has a Bachelor’s Degree in Agroeconomics
from Université Laval as well as a certificate
in mediation in civil and commercial affairs from
the Barreau du Québec. During his career, he
has worked in the bio-food and agro-environment sectors,
notably for the Union des producteurs agricoles, the
Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries
et de l’Alimentation du Québec and the
Ministère du Développement durable,
de l’Environnement et des Parcs.
In 2001, he was the official spokesperson for the
Ministère du Développement durable,
de l’Environnement et des Parcs during the BAPE’s
public consultation on hog production. In addition,
he has held various management positions, including
those of director of agricultural sector policies,
director of intergovernmental affairs and economic
studies, assistant director general of regional analysis
and expertise, as well as director general of the
Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches
regions.
Mr. Pierre Fortin has been Vice President of the
BAPE since 2007. After having served as commissioner on one mandate, he has chaired six public inquiry commissions.
